Iain ‘Goobs’ Jensen started sailing in his hometown of Wangi Wangi, Australia, when he was five years old. At the age of 16, he represented Australia for the first time, winning the double handed 420 Youth World Championships. In 2009 he won the 49er World Championships in Lake Garda, Italy, and two years later claimed his second 49er World Champion title in Perth, Australia. In 2012, he won an Olympic gold medal at the London 2012 Games and went on to win a second Olympic medal – silver – at Rio 2016. Iain campaigned as wing trimmer with Artemis Racing for two America’s Cups; the 34th America’s Cup in San Francisco and the 35th America’s Cup in Bermuda, before joining Sir Ben Ainslie's British Challenge for the 36th and 37th America's Cups. Jensen has been with the Emirates GBR SailGP Team since Season 2 and has the pivotal role of controlling the F50’s wing to accelerate and decelerate the race boat. He is one of the League's most knowledgeable and experienced Wing Trimmers, having been in the role since SailGP's inception, firstly with Japan and then with Emirates GBR.
