COLLABORATION WITH THE GREAT CAMPAIGN

At SailGP Events around the world, The Emirates GBR Team partners with the GREAT Britain Campaign to host events that bring networks together and inform them of the work the Team does around sport and sustainability.

The British Consulate in each SailGP Event location connects us with organisations, businesses and individuals to enable us to share with them the projects we have undertaken, including our renewable energy installation and the Protect Our Future climate education platform, to hopefully inspire them to get involved in similar initiatives. Our athletes host these events and use their voices to influence and inspire people around the world to use their platform for good.

ADOPT A CLUB

Emirates GBR is passionate about inspiring the next generation and as part of this engages with youth sailing programmes across the globe. At SailGP Events, the team partners with a local sailing club and invites members to its base for a behind-the-scenes tour where they can meet the athletes and see the F50 up close.  

We also host events at the sailing clubs we partner with where Emirates GBR athletes take part in a Q&A session with members to inspire the young people to continue their sailing efforts and take climate action.  

TECH TOURS

A Tech Tour is where we welcome people into the SailGP Tech Site to witness all the behind-the-scenes action and effort it takes to operate a SailGP event, this includes business leaders, local sailing clubs, youth groups from the community and many more. As well as meeting athletes and seeing the F50 up close, visitors also get to see the sustainability actions all SailGP Teams are taking.

For example, guests can see the Emirates GBR renewable energy installation, Protect Our Future climate education lessons taking place, waste separation systems and water stations to eradicate single-use plastic water bottles. Our athletes host these tours, and the aim is to use their influence to inspire the visitors to take similar climate action themselves.  

60 SEC CLIMATE CHAMPIONS

In partnership with Low Carbon, Emirates GBR has created the 60 Second Climate Champion series. At each SailGP Event, we visit a local sustainability project and interview the team behind it to showcase the important work they are doing. Previous episodes have included: bird protection schemes in Cadiz, Spain; kelp harvesting in Los Angeles, United States; and marine habitat restoration in Taranto, Italy.
