PARTNERSHIPS

Low Carbon - Renewable Energy

Emirates GBR and global partner Low Carbon created a bespoke, first-of-its-kind Portable Renewable Energy Installation, consisting of 38 solar panels and two micro-wind turbines. This has taken the team base 100% off-grid, helped other teams go off-grid and has saved over 1,800KG CO2e. After proving the success of the installation, the team published the Portable Off Grid Power Blueprint, providing organisations with the knowledge, information and contacts needed to integrate renewable energy into their operations.

The 1851 Trust - Sport Inspired Learning

Founded by Sir Ben Ainslie in 2013, The 1851 Trust uses sport inspired learning to educate and empower young people through STEM and climate education. Their free to access STEM Crew digital education programme fosters skills in science, technology, engineering and green skills. Their mission is to create the next generation of innovators, as they aim to engage 3 million young people globally in STEM and Green skills by 2030.

As our ‘Race for the Future Purpose Partner’ the Emirates Great Britain SailGP Team and the 1851 Trust have launched a library of free climate education resources for 8–16-year-olds. Using the inspiration of athletes and global community of sport, these resources empower young people with the knowledge to take climate action, accelerating changes in behaviours and helping the next generation become the environmental problem solvers of the future.

Spinlock - Innovative Branding Soloutions

We worked with our Official Supplier Spinlock to ensure our personal flotation devices were designed and built to encompass sailor and sponsor branding that is removable & transferable, extending the life of a product containing multiple complex materials.

This inspired the team to sought out other sustainable solutions to branded materials. For the 2025 season, new partner J.P. Morgan’s branding rights on our kit presented an opportunity to rethink our approach to kit sponsorship. Instead of producing entirely new kits, Emirates GBR collected all team kits after the January Auckland event and any team kit in the UK. These were rebranded locally in New Zealand and the Isle of Wright, arriving in time for the Sydney event in February.
This approach avoids the transportation emissions and remanufacturing of 629 items, significantly reducing waste items, avoiding 7,000 KGCO2e being emitted and avoiding 1.7 million of litres being used to make new kit from virgin materials.

SunGod - Aligned Businesses

When prospective partnership discussions take place, we always seek those with similar sustainability commitments. For instance, our Official Eyewear Supplier SunGod is a B Corp™.

In Summer 2022 SunGod became a Certified B Corporation™, joining a global community of 5000+ businesses using business as a force for good. "B" stands for Benefit for All.

Plus all SunGods are covered by a lifetime guarentee. If they break (or you break them) SunGod will fix them, free of charge. Because keeping gear in play is better than throwing it away.
