Grassroots to Glory: Developing female talent both on-and-off the water

We partnered with Athena Pathway Programme, founded by Hannah Mills and Sir Ben Ainslie, to find solutions for the gender imbalance in sailing: providing mentorship, foiling taster sessions and high-performance opportunities for women of all abilities.

2025 Highlights:

  • 45% of Athena Pathway participants were female
  • 74% of foiling development clinics were female
  • 128+ hours of coaching & training across 16 sessions
  • 9 female squad members competed in the WASZP World Championships
  • 200+ hours of business mentorship to support Hannah’s journey toward becoming the first female SailGP CEO & Team Principal

We’re proud to use our voice, inspire the next generation, and show that women belong at every level of sailing, from foiling to leadership.
